Enrollment began today for the Yes I Can Basketball fall youth league. Separate leagues are offered for boys and girls in various age groups.

Many urban youth have dreams of one day playing a professional sport or becoming a top-selling, Grammy-award winning entertainer.  There are a number of programs that make that can help teens searching for an opportunity to  play professional sports hone their craft, but not many – especially in the Charlotte area – that help them develop the skills needed to succeed in the music business. 

Raymond named superintendent of schools in Sacramento

 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – July 23, 2009 – Jonathan Raymond, who has served as the chief accountability officer for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since 2006, has been named superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District in California.
Raymond will begin his new job in Sacramento Aug. 24.

          CHARLOTTE, N.C. – July 15, 2009 – The class of 2009 set a new record for scholarship money in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with a total of $76.2 million earned by 25 high schools. The amount, which topped the record of $74.8 million in 2008, included 15 high schools earning $1 million or more, and eight earning more than $4 million.
